Tyler graduated from Banks County High School and The University of Georgia in 2003 with a bachelor's and master's degree in accounting. He has served as Treasurer and Board Member of Habersham Kiwanis Club and a mentor at Banks County Elementary and Middle schools for five years. He is married to his wife, and they have two kids. They are members of Tates Creek Baptist Church.
