William is married to his wife and has four children. He attended Banks County High School, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, and the University of Georgia, where he graduated with honors.

William currently serves on the Banks County Farm Bureau Board of Directors. He has also served as President of the Banks County Cattlemen's Association, and is a member of the Banks County Young Farmers.
