This area is the best option for the County to keep its small town feel towards town, but also allow the availability of other County residents to spend their money in Lumpkin County... Let us manipulate that area to take full advantage of its traffic flow and ascertain all economic growth to this one area, so it doesn't come into town."

Mayfield holds a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from the University of North Georgia, a Masters Degree in Technology and Curriculum from Western Governors University, and a doctorate degree in education leadership from Liberty University. Mayfield currently resides in Dahlonega, Georgia. 

Mayfield is a safety coordinator with the Lumpkin County School System. He has worked several roles in the Lumpkin County School district as a High School Assistant Principal, Math Teacher and CTAE Director, and in the Mountain Education Charter High School system as an IT Support Specialist and Graduation Coach. He is also a retired U.S. Army veteran, previously serving as a sergeant. 

Bobby Mayfield is the County Commissioner for Lumpkin County Commission representing District 2. He was elected to this position in 2016, and has served two terms.
