Jones is from Midway, Georgia and graduated from the Bradwell Institute. He attended South University in Savannah studying criminal justice. He is married to his wife, Michelle, with whom they have three children and two grandchildren together. Jones is life-long member of the St. James African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in the Freedom Grove Community. He serves on the Steward Board, the Trustee Board, and is the president of the Usher Board.
