Tanya received a degree in Business Administration and Management from Marsh Draughon Business College and a Commission Certification in Political Science and Government from The University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government. She has served the Metropolitan Planning Commission, Boy Scouts of America, the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce, United Way of the Coastal Empire, Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, American Diabetes Association, Homebuilders Association of Greater Savannah and the Savannah Jazz Association. She resides in Savannah with her husband, two daughters, and two grandchildren. Milton attends Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist Church.

Tanya Yvette Milton works as the Vice President and Advertising Director for the Savannah Tribune. She has also worked with The Detroit Free Press, Kansas City Star and Times, and the Savannah Morning News as an Account Executive. Milton opened her own marketing company, T-Time Marketing, in 2002.

Tanya Yvette Milton currently serves as County Commissioner for District 5 in Chatham County. She was elected in 2020, has served one term, and is seeking re-election.
