Lewis has a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of West Georgia and a law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law. He has four children and lives in Leesburg.

Lewis previously served as the Southwestern Judicial Circuit's chief assistant district attorney. 

Lewis R. Lamb is currently serving as District Attorney in the Southwestern Judicial Circuit. He was appointed in 2018 and is serving his first full term. He ran for superior court judge in 2016, but did not win. 

As district attorney, he prosecutes civil and criminal actions under state law and presents cases before grand juries.

- A District Attorney is the person who represents the government in the prosecution of all felony criminal cases and the misdemeanors connected to felonies.
