Brad is a native of Quitman, and resides there with his wife, Annette. He graduated from Valdosta State College in 1980 and from Emory University School of Law in 1983.  

Before working for the District Attorney's Office, Brad was in private practice from 1983 to 1988 in Valdosta, Hahira, and Quitman. During some of this time,  he served as City Attorney for Quitman and as its Municipal Court Judge.

Brad Shealy is the current District Attorney in the Southern Judicial Circuit. He has held this position since 2016, for two consecutive terms or eight years. 

Since 1998, Brad has been responsible for prosecuting most of the murder and armed robbery cases that occurred in Lowndes County.  For over twenty years, he has prosecuted most of the cases in Echols County.  

Responsible for handling most of the major cases in Brooks County and also serves as a Solicitor in the Brooks County State Court. Handles cases in Thomas and Colquitt Counties on a case-by-case basis.

- A District Attorney is the person who represents the government in the prosecution of all felony criminal cases and the misdemeanors connected to felonies.
