Mark attended Lexington High School. He has a bachelor's degree in marketing management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Mark is a computer systems engineer and analyst for the federal government. He used to be the senior advisor to the office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology, the director of communications for the office of the assistant secretary for health and the U.S. surgeon general, and the national training project manager for IBM Global Services.
