The Daily Progress, Former Charlottesville Mayor Dave Norris running for House of Delegates

Dave is from Fairfax County. He has a bachelor’s degree in politics and history from Curry University in Massachusetts, and a master's degree in government from the College of William & Mary. He lives with his three children and two cats.

Dave owns a business and is a manager of the Financial Opportunity Center + Housing Hub at the Piedmont Housing Alliance. He used to be a general manager at the Charlottesville Parking Center and a redevelopment authority at the Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority.

Dave Norris was a member of the Charlottesville City Council. He was first elected in 2006 and was in office for two terms, until 2014. He was also mayor of the Charlottesville City Council for one term.

Dave Norris

- The Virginia General Assembly, made up of the House of Delegates and the State Senate, is responsible for creating state laws.  
- Your state delegate serves your local district in the Virginia House of Delegates, advocating for your community's needs and interests.  
- Delegates have the power to write, sponsor, and vote on proposed legislation, including all bills related to the state budget, which begin in the House of Delegates.  
- The House of Delegates consists of 100 members, each elected to represent one district.  
- Delegates serve two-year terms and receive an annual salary of $17,640.
