Jason has a bachelor's degree in political science and a bachelor's degree in management from Concord College, and he has a law degree from West Virginia College.

Jason is a lawyer. He owns a law firm, Headley Ballard LLC. He serves in the Army Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel. He previously served in the U.S. Army.

Jason Ballard is currently representing the 12th district in the Virginia House of Delegates. He was first elected in 2022 and is completing his first term. Before assuming his current office, Ballard served on the Pearisberg Town Council.

Wants to get rid of government regulations on businesses and lower taxes for businesses.

As a state delegate, voted for a bill that lowered taxes on groceries from 2.5% to 1%, except for alcohol, tobacco, and prepared hot foods. Diapers and feminine hygiene products were included in the tax decrease.

As a state delegate, voted for a bill that limits the amount of THC in hemp products to 0.3% of the product and 2 milligrams total. Possession of marijuana is decriminalized in Virginia but there is no legal market for sales of THC products.
