Joshua is originally from rural upstate New York. He has a bachelor's degree in political science from American Military University, a master's degree in legislative affairs from George Washington University, and a master's degree in strategic communications from Columbia University. He lives in Gainesville with his wife, Jessica, and two children. They attend Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Gainesville.

Joshua works at Deloitte as a specialist master. He used to work at EY, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
