Stafford County Sheriff's Office, David P. Decatur

David graduated from the FBI National Academy.

David used to be a patrol deputy, deputy sheriff sergeant, and deputy sheriff at the Stafford County Sheriff's office. He served as an airborne paratrooper in the U.S. Army.

David Phillip Decatur, Jr. is currently sheriff of Stafford County. He was first elected in 2015 and has been in office for two terms.

As sheriff, he formed the School Safety Task Force and created the School Protection Officer Program.

David is a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He is a U.S. Army Veteran.

Prior to working for Stafford County, David served as an Airborne Paratrooper in the U.S. Army. Sheriff David Decatur began his law enforcement career in 1986 with the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office. He served two years as a Deputy Sheriff/Deputy Sheriff Sergeant assigned to Jail Operations, then as a Patrol Deputy assigned to Field Operations. He has worked for the Stafford Sheriff's Office for over 30 years.

Sheriff Decatur was elected as Stafford County Sheriff in November 2015.

- As Sheriff, he formed the School Safety Task Force and created the School Protection Officer Program.
