Lauranett L. Lee’s campaign for school board member is her first entry into politics.

Lauranett is a public history consultant and an adjunct assistant professor. She works at L. L. Lee & Associates, where she has been for over 22 years. She also works at the University of Richmond, where she has been for over 11 years. She previously worked at the Virginia Historical Society as a curator of African American history.

Lauranett is from Chesterfield County. She attended Midlothian High School. She has a Bachelor's degree in Communications from Mundelein College and a Master's degree in American History from Virginia State University. She has a Ph.D. in American History from the University of Virginia. She lives in Chesterfield.
