He also attended Asbury Seminary, Northeastern University, Longwood University, and Virginia Commonwealth University. He lives with his wife, Kathy, in Powhatan. He has ten grandchildren. He attends St. John Neumann Catholic Church.

Lee is retired. He used to be the dean of Benedictine College Preparatory School, a history and government teacher at Powhatan High School and Blessed Sacrament Huguenot Academy, and the editor of the Powhatan Gazette.

Lee Ware is currently the state delegate representing district 65. He was first elected in 1997 and has been in office for 13 terms. He used to be the member of the Powhatan Board of Supervisors representing district 4 from 1987 until 1995.
