Karen is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. She has a bachelor's degree from Tulane University and a law degree from Washington University. She lives with her husband in Oakton.

Luellen is a teacher. She has taught both elementary and middle school. During the Covid-19 Pandemic, she was a contact tracer for the Southern Nevada Health District. She also has experience working in media for the special ops community. She wrote a book in 2007 called "Special Dream."
