Justin attended Ingraham High School. He has a bachelor's degree in philosophy from the University of Washington. He lives in Broadview with his partner and four-year old son. He attends Plymouth Congregational Church.

Justin is an associate member of the United Steelworkers of America. He used to be a citizen councilor at the King County Community Forums program.

Justin Simmons has served for 14 years as an elected precinct committee officer (PCO). He was a creek steward for Broadview Creek, and spent 6 years on the Broadview Community Council.
