Michael-Angelo James is currently the mayor of Waycross. He was elected in 2020 and has served one term.

Michael-Angelo James is a professor of sociology and job acquisition skills. He works at Coastal Pines Technical College, where he has been for five years. He is also the bishop and presiding over Emmanuel's International Cathedral, where he has been for 33 years. He is also the chancellor of Emmanuel's Bible College, where he has been for 14 years. He previously worked at General Missionary Baptist Convention of Georgia, Ware County High School, and Waycross High School.

Michael-Angelo James is from Waycross. He graduated from Waycross High School. He has a Bachelor of Science in education from Troy University. He also has a Master of Education degree in secondary education and teaching from Valdosta State University. He is a father of one son and currently lives in Waycross. He attends Emmanuel's International Cathedral.
