Barbara Bender is currently mayor representing Snellville. She was first elected as a council member in 2005 and served four terms. She was elected as mayor in 2019 following the previous mayor's resignation and has served one term and one year.

Barbara has been a Certified Public Accountant for over 30 years, running her own firm.

Barbara has lived in Snellville for 22 years. She has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Georgia State University. She is also a graduate of Parkview High School. Barbara has been married for 35 years to Greg Bender and has two grown children.
