Rick has a bachelor's degree in business administration from Cornerstone University and a master's degree in business administration from Michigan State University. He and his wife, Donna, have been married for 32 years and have three children.

Rick used to be a facility operations manager for engineering firm CH2M Hill and has also owned his own renovation, remodeling and repair business. He worked at IBM for more than 20 years.
