Raphael grew up in Savannah, Georgia. Raphael earned a bachelor's degree at Morehouse College and a master's degree in divinity, master's degree in philosophy, and Ph.D. from Union Theological Seminary.

Raphael has served as the senior pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta since 2005. Before his role at Ebenezer, he served as the senior pastor of Douglas Memorial Community Church in Baltimore, Maryland, and an assistant pastor of Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem, New York.

Reverend Raphael Warnock is the current junior Senator representing Georgia. She earned a bachelor of science degree in computer information systems from DeVry University and a juris master degree from Emory University School of Law. She has lived in DeKalb and Gwinnett Counties for the last 28 years. She has two young adult sons.

Through these organizations she has advocated for several bills focused on the beauty industry in Georgia. She ran for the Georgia State Senate for District 40 in 2014, 2016 and 2018, but was not elected. In 2020, she ran in the Special Election for the United States Senate to fulfill the term of Johnny Isakson, held by Kelly Loeffler.  She placed 6th in a field of 21 candidates.
