Legal Experience

Judge Whitaker is a Judge in the Atlanta Judicial Circuit of the Fulton County Superior Court. As a Superior Court Judge, she presides over cases involving felonies, civil disputes, real estate matters, family and domestic relations issues, and appeals from lower courts.

Judge Whitaker is an elected delegate to the Board of Governors for the State Bar of Georgia. As an elected delegate to the Board of Governors, she represents the voice of the members of the bar in Atlanta in the control and administration of the affairs of the State Bar.

Previously, Judge Whitaker was a Deputy District Attorney in the Appeals Division of the Fulton County District Attorney's Office. As a Deputy District Attorney, Judge Whitaker represented the DA’s office when a defendant appealed their conviction.

The importance of that experience to the effective functioning of our court system at this critical time cannot be underestimated. Victims and defendants deserve to have their cases handled without delay by a fair and experienced judge. Businesses and civil litigants deserve to have their disputes heard and resolved. Families in crisis need a devoted and attentive judge. I have been and will continue to be that judge.”

Judicial Philosophy

Judge Whitaker partners with the DA, Solicitor, and the Georgia Justice Project on Record Restriction Clinics to assist people whose criminal record acts as a barrier to opportunities.

In my service as a judge, I am reminded of the Biblical admonition, “Love Justice, those of you who judge the earth.” As I interpret and apply the law, I keep that wisdom in mind. Justice means more than just doing what is right it means doing it with respect, fairness, equity, and compassion.”

Community Involvement

Judge Whitaker is the Vice-Chair of the Georgia Commission on Family Violence

She volunteers to Judge mock trial and moot court competitions at the high school, college, and law levels.

She is an Ambassador for the Pink Ribbon Story Foundation and a Sustainer for the Junior League of Atlanta.
