Peter has a bachelor of science degree in physics and mathematics and a bachelor of arts degree in french from the University of Memphis. He has a master of arts degree from Johns Hopkins University. He lives in Atlanta, Georgia with his spouse and two children.

Peter is a renewable energy developer. He works for the Georgia Center for Energy Solutions, which he founded in 2019. He previously worked as a management consultant for two different consulting firms. From 2009 to 2012, he worked for the US Trade and Development Agency, covering the regions of the Middle East and North Africa. Prior to that, he was in the US Peace Corps.

Peter's campaign for State Representative is his first entry into politics.
