Sharon is originally from Houston, Texas.

Sharon holds a B.S. in child development, a M.A. in education, and a M.S. in nursing. Sharon works as a medical administrator. She previously taught nursing for many years.

Sharon is the current Representative for District 43 in the Georgia House of Representatives. She was first elected to the Georgia
General Assembly in 1996 as the State Representative for House District 41 which is now District 43. She chairs the Health and Human Services Committee.
