Mokah previously ran for state representative for district 117, which is now district 120 because of redistricting. She was not elected.

Mokah is a teacher. She used to teach Adult GED education at Athens Technical College. She runs an event production and marketing company, called United Group of Artists. She previously founded a performing arts school and a beauty salon.

Mokah is originally from Jamaica. She moved to the United States in the 1980s. She has lived in Athens for more than 15 years. She lives in Athens with her husband. They have seven children and ten grandchildren.
