Sam is originally from Georgia. He grew up in Gwinnett County. He has a bachelor's degrees in political science and economics and a law degree from Georgia State University. He also has a master's degree in law, politics, and legislation from American University. He was the first openly gay man elected to the Georgia state congress.

Sam is a lawyer. He works for Positive Impact Health Centers, which is a nonprofit that works to end the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Georgia.

Sam Park is currently the representative for district 101. He was first elected in 2016 and has been in office for three terms. He was the deputy whip for the Georgia House Democrats and the vice-chair of the Gwinnett State House Delegation.
