Dexter attended Mars Hill University on a football scholarship. Dexter also received his master’s degree in business administration from Piedmont College. He lives with his wife, Audrey, in Athens.

Dexter is currently the Chief of District Services for the Clarke County School District. Previously, he spent 31 years as the Director of Facilities Management at the University of Georgia.
