Michael grew up in Marietta Georgia. He attended Lassiter High School. He has a bachelors of arts in speech communication from the University of Georgia. He lives with his wife and son in Lawrenceville, Georgia. They are members of the Hamilton Mill First United Methodist Church.

Michael is a is a Fleet Director for the City of Lawrenceville. He previously worked at his father's business, a sign store, for 16 years in Marietta, Georgia. He also worked at Enterprise Rent-a-Car as a Tri-Branded Area Manager.
