Janice Scott's campaign for County Commissioner for Clayton County District 4 is her first entry into politics. She also served on the Georgia State Behavioral Health and Development Disabilities Advisory Board for four years and was nominated by the Clayton County County Commissioner Chairman. She has served as the Vice Chair for the Clayton County Democratic Executive Committee, and the is an eight year Member of the Clayton County Democratic Party.

Janice is a Reading Specialist Teacher at the Alternative Virtual Academy. She has worked in the Georgia education system for 30 years. She previously worked at the Savannah-Chatham Public School System, Atlanta City Public Schools, Clayton County Schools, and Henry County Schools. In 2021, she received the Teacher of the Year Award.

Janice is from Savannah, Georgia. She has a bachelors of science in criminal justice from Savannah State University, a masters in urban education, and a specialist degree in Supervision Leadership from the Cambridge College. Janice lives in Jonesboro, Georgia. She has a son, a daughter, daughter-in law, and three grandchildren. She is a member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church.
