Mark Newton is currently the representative for district 123. He was first elected in and has been in office for terms. He is chief deputy whip for the Republican caucus and vice chair of the health and human services committee.

Mark is founder and chief executive officer of Med Now Urgent Care Centers in Augusta and Columbia County. He was in the U.S. Army Medical Corps.

Mark is originally from Macon, Georgia. He has a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia, a medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia, and a master's degree in healthcare management from Harvard University. He and his wife, Joni, have four children. They attend Warren Baptist Church.
