Marlene is from North Carolina. She has lived in Lawrenceville for 19 years. She has a bachelor's degree in business management from Shorter University and a master's degree in public administration from Regent University.  She lives in the Collins Hill area. She has one son, who is in the air force.

Marlene used to work at the insurance company Aetna. She was Gwinnett County's poll assistant manager and then elections poll manager.
