She also paid homeless people $5 per hour to wear campaign t-shirts while picking up trash and handing out campaign flyers. She paid three separate fines to the ethics board, totaling $6,500 and settled one other violation without a fine.

In 2014, she repeatedly used taxpayer money to purchase gas without listing mileage or explaining the purchases. She said, "I have my staff when we go out and do cleanups, you know? I put some gas in their cars because a lot of times, we're using two cars." She gave no justifications for about two-thirds of her gas expenses from September of 2012 to November of 2013.

In 2013, she was arrested for driving under the influence and committing several traffic violations. She plead guilty to the DUI charge and was sentenced to community service and a fine of $700. She said she was "moving ahead in a positive direction" and made "changes in her lifestyle."
