Antonio was born and raised in Atlanta, where his family has lived for five generations. He attended Atlanta public schools and graduated from Lincoln University of Missouri.

Antonio works for the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, a large union representing public employees. He previously worked for Organizing for America, helping uninsured people register for health insurance under the Affordable Care Act, for the Obama re-election campaign out of Denver, Colorado, as an admissions recruiter at Lincoln University and in former U.S. Congressman Lacy Clay's (MO-5) office.
