Erika Y. Mitchell is currently the Atlanta Board of Education member representing District 5. She was first elected in 2017. She is a member of the Policy Review Committee, Equity Taskforce, and Audit Committee. She is also vice-chair of the National School Boards Association’s Council of Urban Boards of Education’s Steering Committee. She is secretary on the National Black Council of School Board Members, where she chairs the Policy & Resolution Committee.

Erika is the Managing Partner at Sports Unlimited Enterprise, LLC, which specializes in event planning, public relations, and charities for current and former professional athletes. She is the founder of Atlanta Women in Sports, which provides a platform and networking opportunities for women in the athletics business.

Erika has a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in computer information systems from Alabama State University. She is also a Licensed Esthetics Educator from Esani Paul Mitchell’s Partner School.
