As a city council member, she supported building a $90 million police and firefighter training facility on 85 acres of the Old Atlanta Prison Farm that the city previously set aside as greenspace. In 2013, she was arrested for driving under the influence and committing several traffic violations. She plead guilty to the DUI charge and was sentenced to community service and a fine of $700. She said she was "moving ahead in a positive direction" and made "changes in her lifestyle."
