In response to a question asking what changes should be made to Texas gun laws after the El Paso shooting, Moody said: “The number one change needed is a ‘red flag’ law, a bill I filed and have fought for over the last several years. These are laws that give family members a path to bring certain disturbing (but not necessarily criminal) behavior to the attention of a court, and after a hearing where certain standards are met, that court can issue a protective order temporarily preventing a person from possessing guns while they get the help they need.” He added that he would continue fighting for that tool.
