Elected to Bexar County Probate Court No. 2 in 2018, Judge Vasquez has been a steadfast advocate for accessibility and inclusivity, particularly for the elderly and individuals with physical and mental disabilities. In collaboration with Gordon Hartman and Bexar County officials, she helped establish a designated pick-up and drop-off zone at the South Entrance of the Courthouse to better accommodate individuals with special needs.

My name is Judge Veronica Vasquez, and I am the Presiding Judge for Bexar County Probate Court 2. I am unopposed in the November 2026 election. I will be elected to my 3rd term as a Probate Judge.

Legal Experience

I also spearheaded the creation of the Bexar County Senior Justice Assessment Center.

I led the creation of a designated drop-off zone for those with special needs at the courthouse. I created the PJS American Inns of Court for probate attorneys. I advocated and received additional staff for the probate courts, as well as the creation of a third probate court. In addition to all my accomplishments, I run an efficient docket.

In 2025, I signed over 12,200 orders. I created an online scheduling tool for attorneys, provide monthly newsletters, and free CLEs quarterly. I also regularly provide presentations to the public on the law.

Describe your plans to serve a growing county with heavy demands for probate services and only three judges?
I will continue to find ways to work effectively and efficiently. I always strive to bring more education to the public and attorneys to help them navigate the difficult probate process. I regularly meet with my staff to discuss ways we can provide a better experience for all. This may include updating checklists, creating new checklists, and ensuring emails and phone calls get answered promptly.

I also work regularly with probate colleagues across the state and nation to understand and implement best practices. I’m also a firm believer that technology is our friend and I’m always looking to see how we can utilize technology to create efficiencies, such as the tool I use for online scheduling.

She has introduced initiatives such as the publication of Spanish-language guides and the establishment of clear standards for attorney fees, helping to make complex legal matters more understandable for all citizens.

Why are you seeking this office, and why did you decide to be a candidate in the political party you chose?
I am a Democrat. However, as a Judge, I do not care what party you are. I am there to follow the law and apply the law to the facts in front of me. Under the guidance of the law, I want to provide the best outcome to all who come before me; Bexar County citizens deserve nothing less.

Those who appear in our court are in a difficult time in their life. It is important that the judge who presides over this court has the appropriate judicial temperament and is compassionate towards the people before them. We deal with unique communities such as those with disabilities and seniors, we must treat all that come before us with dignity and respect. I have a proven track record of treating those in my court with dignity and respect and displaying the appropriate judicial temperament.
