In November 2022, she was elected as the judge of the same court. During that interim twenty four year time span, she spent twenty years as a prosecutor, rising from misdemeanor attorney to Chief of the Juvenile Division, and four years as a defense attorney handling both juvenile and adult cases. Judge Sosa also became one of only fifteen attorneys in the State of Texas, who is dually board certified in juvenile and adult criminal cases.

Legal Experience

Her motivation for working with justice involved youth is the hope for rehabilitation and the expectation that by working programs through her court, children and families can refocus and move towards becoming successful citizens. Those who appear in her court are treated fairly, listened to, and provided with opportunities and services they can utilize to make positive changes in their lives to achieve success.

During her time as both a prosecutor and defense attorney, she has seen firsthand the help that juveniles received in specialty courts and how those critical services made a huge difference to their families as well. While serving in the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office, she was a part of the teams that helped establish juvenile specialty programs such as Crossroads Girls Mental Health Court, Restore Court, MIND Court and Strive Court. Judge Sosa believes that specialty court programs and wraparound services can make a huge difference for both generations and is looking for ways to expand and continue those benefits.

The driving force for Judge Sosa is to see the children and families who come before her succeed, by providing services that foster better outcomes and prevent repeat offenses. Ultimately, her goal is to divert the youth who appear before her from becoming part of the adult criminal system and strengthen them to become healthy members of the community.
