Commissioner Macalik has lived in Rockwall County most of her life and graduated from Rockwall High School in 1980. She is a 5th-generation or Rockwall County. Her family settled in Heath in the late 1880s. She is a graduate of Sam Houston State University with a BBA, General Business-Marketing, and Loyola University Institute, with an Operational Management concentration in Administration.

Before she was elected a County Commissioner, Macalik served on the Rockwall City Council from 2017-2022 and as Mayor Pro-Tem in 2019. With the support of her family and Christian faith, Dana's management and budgeting experience in business provides her necessary tools to achieve the goals to make Rockwall County and Precinct 2 a great place to live and work.

Dana was elected County Commissioner for Rockwall County Precinct 2 in November 2022. She previously served on the Rockwall City Council from 2017 to 2022.
