Said damaged livestock barn pens were cleared for possible use during show week.

Volunteers helped clear the damage after the winter storm at the livestock-barn facilities used by the Texoma Exposition and Livestock Show. “We were able to get the pens cleared off to where we can utilize some of them during the show week if we need to,” Hardenburg said. Crews did so by removing the damaged roof, eliminating the safety risk ahead of the show.

Initiated discussions with Whitesboro about an agreement to accept stray dogs found outside city limits.

Grayson County Commissioner Matt Hardenburg of Precinct 4 said he reached out to Whitesboro City Manager Phil Harris several months ago after receiving ongoing complaints about stray animals. “We started talking about this probably three months ago, four months ago,” Hardenburg said. Under the agreement, Grayson County will pay Whitesboro $150 for each stray dog the city takes in when that dog is picked up outside city limits, up to 75 dogs per year.

Grayson County residents and county leaders expressed concerns about a proposed concrete batch plant at a public hearing. “There are dual credit students that actually go to high school and they go to college, so all the truck traffic is a major concern for us and also like I said the county road, if you go out south you’re going to be tearing up our county roads,” said Grayson County Precinct 4 Commissioner Matt Hardenburg.

County crews worked to make roads passable, but the conditions made it nearly impossible with their current equipment. “We were grading, trying to get that ice off, it was a fine line between getting ice off and getting, you know, down to the chip and seal,” said Matt Hardenburg, Precinct 4 commissioner.
