2026 Texas General Election

MEET JOSHUA

A neighbor who
cares about Fate.

My family and I have called Woodcreek home since 2020. We’ve watched Fate grow around us—and we care deeply about the city our four children are growing up in.

He and his wife, Cabi, have four children, three of whom attend Billie Stevenson Elementary.

I’m for low taxes, but not a race to the bottom. We should question spending and look for savings while funding the basic services our community needs. When additional spending is proposed, I want to know what it accomplishes, what alternatives exist and how we’ll pay for it over time.

Let’s put Fate ahead of politics.

I welcome more shopping, dining and businesses here in Fate. I’d like more of our everyday spending to support local businesses and generate local sales-tax revenue.

When reviewing development, I want to understand the traffic it will add, the capacity of our water and sewer systems, and the cost of providing police, fire and other services.

He recognizes that Fate’s developing commercial centers and Interstate 30 corridor are the city’s largest untapped opportunities. “Residential growth alone doesn’t pay for a city,” Martin said. “A strong commercial base broadens the tax base and keeps more of the burden off homeowners. I want Fate competing for that growth deliberately instead of taking whatever comes.”

Fate already evaluates development’s long-term financial impact. I want those findings to be part of the conversation residents can understand.

If incentives are involved, I want clear answers about what the city receives, what it commits and when the public benefits arrive. Growth should improve life for residents and leave us able to maintain what we build.

Housing & Urban Development

I’m pro-police, and I want Fate to have a low crime rate. Our police officers and firefighters need the people, training and equipment to do their jobs safely and effectively.

In November 2024, Fate voters approved a $20 million bond for public safety facilities and equipment. That investment includes a new police station, fire-station improvements and apparatus.

We also need to plan for the people who will work in those facilities. I want staffing decisions to account for call volume, response times, overlapping emergencies and the personnel actually available on each shift.

I’d also look at recruitment, retention, overtime and equipment replacement when reviewing budget requests. Our chiefs should explain what’s needed and how it would improve service.

Council should understand the ongoing cost and identify dependable funding. Public safety needs sustained attention every budget year.

I want project priorities to reflect safety, condition and actual need. That means looking at recurring drainage problems, road maintenance, intersection performance and whether utility capacity is keeping up with development.

That means looking at recurring drainage problems, road maintenance, intersection performance and whether utility capacity is keeping up with development.

Depending on the location, an improvement might involve signal timing, a turn lane, a repair or a larger project. I want us to evaluate practical options and coordinate with the agency responsible for the road.

We also need to budget for maintenance and eventual replacement. Residents deserve clear information about who owns a project, how it will be funded, its expected timeline and what is causing any delay.

Long brings more than 40 years of business experience, military leadership experience, and a record of service on boards, commissions and task forces. He now wants to bring that experience to City Hall as Fate continues to grow.

“Government should work for the people — not the other way around,” Long said. “Taxpayers deserve responsible spending, transparency and leaders who are willing to make tough decisions.”

Long’s campaign is built around several priorities:
- Protecting taxpayers and exercising fiscal discipline
- Keeping government accountable and transparent
- Managing growth responsibly
- Planning infrastructure before problems arise
- Supporting public safety and essential services
- Encouraging a business-friendly community
- Preserving Fate’s small-town character

Long says Fate’s growth brings opportunity, but also requires careful planning.

“I'm not against growth. I'm against growth without a vision and a plan,” Long said. “Responsible growth shouldn’t leave you with less of your hard-earned money,” Long said. “We certainly need to make sure roads, infrastructure, utilities, and public safety keep pace with development, but we also need to remember that today’s decisions shouldn’t make tomorrow harder.”
