State Rep. Jamie Flick represents the 83rd Legislative District, which includes parts of Lycoming County and two northern townships in Union County.

Jamie currently serves as state representative for Pennsylvania’s 83rd Legislative District.

Rep. Flick brings his commonsense business practices and hard work ethic to Harrisburg to spend less, tax less, save more and grow the economy for his district by making the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania more attractive for businesses and working families. Specifically, Rep. Flick believes in expanding our business opportunities and supporting our energy sector, limiting government overreach, and lowering taxes — especially property, death/inheritance and Pennsylvania’s exorbitant gas taxes.

“In the past, I’ve long explained the decision making we as lawmakers must consider when casting our votes. This budget once again caused me to go back and forth. I ultimately decided to vote ‘yes’ on it because House Republicans spent months negotiating for significant improvements.”

Flick Votes Yes on Budget After Negotiated Improvements

“Let’s start with the amount the budget spends, which is $50.8 billion. That number is $2.5 billion less than what was originally proposed and while it’s still too high, it does demonstrate some fiscal responsibility.”

“Second, I like to see we dedicated $775 million to roads and bridges, supporting projects that have been awaiting critical funding.”

HARRISBURG – Rep. Jamie Flick (R-Lycoming/Union) today voted in favor of a bill that would create a fairer playoff system in high school sports. House Bill 41 would allow the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) to create separate playoffs and championships for boundary and non-boundary schools. “I was eager to vote in favor of this bill,” Flick said. “I regularly hear about the defeated feeling for young athletes who advance all the way to a state championship game, only to compete against a private school with greater funding and the ability to recruit top athletes.”

Flick, a Definitive Yes on Bill to Create Separate Playoffs for Public and Private Schools

House Bill 1814 would ban the possession and use of cell phones and other mobile devices by students in K–12 during school hours in both public and private learning environments across the Commonwealth, with certain exemptions included in the legislation. Then I thought about my belief in small government, and not making sweeping laws to govern every inch of this diverse Commonwealth with one stroke of a pen. School districts elect people to make policies that fit their educational needs, isn’t that the role of a school board? My vote then swung to “no.”

Decision Shaped by Open Debate and Informed Discussions, Not Party Lines

HARRISBURG – Rep. Jamie Flick (R-Lycoming/Union) announced several schools in the 83rd Legislative District will be receiving nearly $1 million to make learning environments safer and provide behavioral health support for students and staff. The grants were approved through the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency’s (PCCD) School Safety and Security Committee. “Each person who sets foot in our schools should never have to worry about their safety,” Flick said. “That goes for students, teachers, staff, parents and other visitors. This additional funding these districts will receive helps strengthen school safety and ensures our learning environments remain secure for everyone.”

HARRISBURG – On Monday, Oct. 5, Rep. Jamie Flick (R Lycoming/Union) hosted another significant day for child custody reform in Pennsylvania. His bill, House Bill 1499, which seeks to ensure fairness in custody determinations and protect children’s rights to have equal access to both parents, provided they are willing, fit and able, was the focus of a press conference, Judiciary Committee public hearing and panel at the state Capitol in Harrisburg.

Flick's Shared Parenting Legislation Highlighted During Hearing, Press Conference and Panel

“The message in the bill is that kids need both safe, fit and loving parents,” Flick said. “I continue to fight for this important piece of family legislation because every day I get calls from fathers, mothers and grandparents from across the country who share their own experiences about the need for reform.”

Said additional school funding strengthens school safety and helps keep learning environments secure.
