Calls for ongoing efforts to recruit corporations to the district.

Economic Development via Employment and Entrepreneurial Opportunities

The 164th has always had challenges with providing space to host larger companies. While there should be a continuous plan to solicit corporations. Many of our professionals leave the area for employment and often seem to move closer to their jobs.

Economic Development via Employment and Entrepreneurial Opportunities

Advocates for entrepreneurship programs that connect residents with grants, loans, business services, and economic opportunities.

While attracting bigger companies is a start towards economic development, entrepreneurship should be a strategic plan as well. The goal towards hosting strategic entrepreneurial developmental functions allows community residents to become aware of grants, loans, business services, and economic opportunities.

Believes families need affordable, safe housing.

Affordable Housing, Secure Housing, and Community Based Gentrification

Gina Curry is a believer that families need affordable and safe housing. As a young person from Baltimore suburbs Gina’s family struggled at times with consistent housing. Those childhood experiences can be traumatic for families and children. Lack of secure housing can bring developmental issues that lead to life journey struggles.

Affordable Housing, Secure Housing, and Community Based Gentrification

Supports using financing, development grants, and homeownership training to help families move from affordable housing to homeownership.

Gina and her husband are also real estate investors. She believes that through creative financing, real estate development grants, and home ownership preparatory training, affordable housing does not have to be life long. Gina also believes that by initiating more Landlords relationships with groups like Community Action Agency. With strategic representation from State Reps, Senators and Municipal leaders families we may find paths to home ownership which can reduce the need for long term affordable housing.

Prioritizes trade education, apprenticeships, and partnerships among schools, corporations, and small businesses.

In essence, I see trade education programs as a partner with public schools similar to college. Apprenticeship programs, partnerships with schools, corporations and small businesses continue to be Gina’s top priority in the district.

Trade Education Opportunities

Trade opportunities should be prioritized as the grassroots partner with public education and provide economic opportunities within our communities.

Supports public education and equitable school opportunities.

Public Education Opportunities

Gina is a strong supporter and advocate of public education. While maintaining an equivalent and equitable school situation is difficult it is not impossible. Since participating on the school board my goals are simplistic but difficult when adjusting and advocating culture change.

Supports Solar for Schools grants to make schools more sustainable and generate fiscal savings for school improvements.

“The priority to make schools more sustainable through this substantial Solar for Schools grant is ensuring that our students will not only benefit from an environmentally friendly and safe structural advancement but it also means that this type of investment proves to be a long lasting initiative that the districts I proudly represent and the districts throughout Delaware County will be able to see for years to come,” said Representative Curry. “It makes room for fiscal savings to initiate improvements and expansive action to provide more of what is needed for our students overall. This is not just a one-time opportunity, but it will continue to give back, and that is a win on all sides.”
