Reggie is currently the Wayne County sheriff. Before serving as sheriff, Reggie was a former N.C. Highway Patrol trooper in Wayne County for nearly 30 years, from 1991 through 2019.

Reggie is a former state trooper with the North Carolina Highway Patrol and a first sergeant with the North Carolina National Guard. He works at the Wayne County Highway Patrol Office, where he was assigned for nearly 30 years. He has served in the Guard since 1985.
