Previously, I was head of marketing and sat on the board of directors at a NC-based wealth management firm with 75 employees that we successfully sold to Modera Wealth Management. I have more than 15 years of marketing experience across the financial services, technology and online media sectors.




I am the president of Women 2 Women Greensboro, a group of 210+ members committed to growing our $5 million endowment at the Community Foundation of Greater Greensboro to provide large-scale grants to women and children in need here in Guilford County. Under my leadership, we transitioned our event strategy from a luncheon to a gala, resulting in a 319% increase in donations and a 138% increase in overall profit. In 2025 we granted out $360,000 to 10 amazing non-profits in our community, bringing our total donations to $2.2 million since 2010.

Guilford County’s population has increased by 8% over the past decade and 34% of residents are considered low-income (less than $62,400 for a family of four). We have a 3.8% unemployment rate, higher than the 3.4% rate statewide. (Source)




We must do more to support job creation across all sectors and of all entry levels for our county. I am a huge supporter of recent large-scale investments to welcome companies such as HondaJet, Boom, JetZero, and Toyota. At the same time, I’m a huge proponent of building up our entrepreneurial base with investments in hubs such as the Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurship.

HB92 is a full-circle moment for me as my family had a wealth management firm for 43 years here in North Carolina, and I oversaw marketing for the firm for 5 years prior to holding this seat. Thus, I believe I am particularly competent in speaking out against this bill that allows our State Treasurer to invest up to 5% of our general fund and state pension funds in crypto! It passed the House but thankfully got stuck in the Senate.

I will be a staunch supporter for key issues of those in my district. Everyone in our district is impacted by our local economy and inflation. We must protect our beautiful nearby lakes, parks and wildlife. We must invest in and fast-track housing developments of all types to provide affordable housing options for all residents. We need to solve the food deserts in the eastern side of my district, resulting in devastating food insecurity issues.

Medicaid is a vital program in our state and must be protected.

Across NC, 3.1 million people rely on Medicaid, representing 28% of the population. And more than 685,000 North Carolinians currently have health care coverage due to Medicaid expansion. According to DHHS, 1 in 4 North Carolinians; 2 out of 5 children in NC; 3 in 10 people with disabilities in NC; 5 in 8 people in nursing facilities are eligible for Medicaid. This term, I supported modernizing Medicaid dental rates (HB 60), adding psychiatric hospitals to Medicaid HASP (HB 242), and adjusting the FMAP trigger for Medicaid expansion (HB 653).

Our healthcare system is based on a significantly flawed, for-profit insurance system.

This often causes exorbitant costs and delayed access to care for patients. This term, I supported transparent drug pricing (HB 624), and removing the prior authorization mandate (HB 434).

We are in a mental health crisis.

In 2023, 10% of NC High school students attempted suicide and 16% made a plan for a suicide attempt (source). I have lost a loved one to suicide; I am forever scarred by this tragedy and will always do everything I can to increase funding to mental health providers and mental health access for those in need.

HB618: Ivermectin Access Act would allow people to get Ivermectin over-the-counter and waive liability of the pharmacist/pharmacy. I tried to run an amendment in real-time to require medical physicians to diagnose, prescribe, and consult with the patient but that was frustratingly turned down and you can watch how my remarks were handled on the floor. This bill was never heard in Health committee and I learned we were voting on it day-of.

Women have an undeniable right to reproductive choice.

As a woman and mother of two girls, I am a staunch supporter of women's right to choose. Our OBGYNs are trained physicians and should be trusted to have confidential discussions with their patients on what is medically best for them without the fear of unclear legislation potentially putting them at risk of being sued or losing their medical license.

Guilford County has an extremely high infant mortality rate (9.2% in 2023 vs 6.9% in NC and 5.6% in US) and 70% of infant deaths were Black (source). We must do more to support pregnant women across all trimesters and throughout the first year post-partum.

During my freshmen term, I led the NC Democratic caucus’ gun violence prevention strategy with 12 bills to save lives, including safe storage, lost/stolen reporting, red-flag laws, school safety funding, and banning ghost guns, assault rifles, and excessive magazines. None sadly got any bipartisan support or even had a committee hearing, but we forge onward.

The NC GOP-led legislature is passing tons of bills to increase penalties for criminals with guns. But we can’t arrest our way out of this situation. We MUST be proactive and simultaneously address this issue from all perspectives.

SB50: Freedom to Carry NC reduces the age to 18 and removes the permit, background check, and training class in order to carry a loaded concealed weapon in our state. Gov. Stein has vetoed this horrific bill; it was overridden in the Senate but NC House Democrats are united to ensure it doesn't get overridden and become law.

Public Safety

Given how clear the ROI is to invest in early childhood development, it is a travesty how little we as a society support its educators. The median hourly wage for an early educator is only $13.50, and almost half of early educators reported public assistance usage.




We must do more to both increase seats in accredited childcare programs AND better support early childhood staff.

I disagree with funding requests from Tier 3 and Tier 4, which are families of four making over $267,651 a year or not even reporting their household income. These families are likely already sending their children to private school of their own volition and do not need financial support from public tax-payer dollars (only 8.4% attended public school prior to receiving a voucher and transitioned to private school - source).

My floor speech against HB636 "Promoting Wholesome Content"

HB636 would require the creation of a 10-person committee in each school district (5 district parents/guardians and 5 school district employees) to review all existing and future library books and require reviews of all materials at book fairs. It allows anyone (even residents without kids attending the school in concern) to sue schools for up to $5k in damages plus “appropriate” legal fees. Thankfully it's stalled in the Senate.

I fully support our immigrant and refugee community. America is a melting pot of cultures and heritages and no one's race, ethnicity or origin is superior to another. The brutal and oftentimes unconstitutional actions of ICE is hurting our immigrant communities who are invaluable to our society. I supported Gov. Stein's vetoes of two hateful bills this session: HB318 The Criminal Illegal Alien Enforcement Act. (sadly overridden) and SB153 North Carolina Border Protection Act.
