Town Manager Susan Almond administered the Oath of Office to the newly elected officials Sid Lanier and Timothy Higgins as Commissioners and the re-elected official Tate Daniels as Mayor. The newly elected and re-elected board members were seated and assumed their duties.

2026 North Carolina General Election

The North Carolina Department of Commerce’s Rural Infrastructure Authority authorized a $110,000 funding commitment to assist with building upgrades at Fiberon’s New London facility. The County of Stanly would receive the Rural Building Reuse grant for renovations of an existing warehouse facility. New London Mayor Tate Daniels stated, “We are grateful that Fiberon has chosen to reinvest and expand the manufacturing operation at their New London facility. The Town is pleased to support their continued growth in New London and look forward to their continued success now and in the years to come.”

The next proposal was from Mayor Tate Daniels of New London. The mayor continued, saying, “What we’re looking to do is we’re planning to construct an additional covered shelter at our town park that’s located on North Main Street.” Daniels said the park site has trails, a playground, a dog park, restrooms, parking, and three covered shelters, but the town wanted a fourth shelter because of the park’s popularity.
