Bringing over 17 years of executive leadership experience, Mayor Pritchett has an extensive background in business operations, strategic planning, and organizational management. Prior to her role as Mayor, she founded Coulter Consulting LLC in Asheville, North Carolina, where she has served as President since 2014.

Mrs. Pritchett was sworn into office at the Lake Lure Town Council Meeting on Wednesday, 8/13/19. This appointment became effective August 14, 2019, and will remain in effect for the remaining term of the former Mayor.

The appointment will expire in conjunction with the official oath of office for the newly elected Mayor at the Regular Town Council Meeting on December 10, 2019. The filing period for the 2019 municipal election has expired, and Mrs. Pritchett is the only person running for Mayor. She will therefore be the next elected Mayor of Lake Lure.

As you may know, we completely redesigned the Marina to include a floating aluminum Boardwalk that adds stability and safety. The Boardwalk extends from the Marina around the curve to the Lake Lure Beach. The Marina branches off from the Boardwalk and has increased boat slips from 84 to 220 slips.

As you know, our beautiful Lake is the centerpiece of our Town, Rutherford County, the Hickory Nut Gorge, and beyond. To maintain our Lake, we must continue our dredging efforts. I want to take this opportunity to thank Tim Shellenberger for his foresight into the importance of ongoing dredging to sustain Lake Lure.

This document has been reviewed by the NC Department of Environmental Quality and we are working through their recommendations. Approval of this report and its recommendations is the final step in securing the funding needed to begin Phase 1 of this project. In the meantime, the Town has made a decision to go forward with plans to rehabilitate or replace the “digester” for the WWTP. This will immediately reduce operational costs at the WWTP and allow the project to move forward. LaBella Associates will be working with the Town to construct this critical part of the WWTP this year.

“The first phase (30%) of the design for the replacement dam is underway,” Pritchett said. “Once this design report is approved by the NC Dam Safety Office, the detailed design project will begin.”

It is a privilege to serve the citizens of Lake Lure in a second term. I appreciate the community’s support and will continue to do all that I can to preserve Lake Lure for future generations. Rehabilitating our town’s core infrastructure remains a top priority.

I am pleased to report that Lake Lure is making significant strides toward our priority infrastructure goals this year. The Town has hired a full-time Project Manager to coordinate these essential projects including dredging, the dam replacement, and the sewer system replacement projects, among others. We are very pleased to have Michael Dydula join our Lake Lure staff from Raleigh, North Carolina.
