Megan Sizemore addressed the Board. She is from Boonville. She thanked the Board for the opportunity to speak tonight. She is here on behalf of the parents, and the community members, of Boonville Elementary School. They have one clear and shared goal; ensuring the safety and wellbeing of the children, teachers, and school staff. They believe that school safety is not up for debate. She knows the Board also feels that way. School safety is a priority that everyone agrees on. It is not political, it is not about protecting anything other than the children. They wanted to be here with their trust that the safety of their school will be approved through the allocation of a dedicated School Resource Officer for Boonville Elementary School. That is a long-term commitment that needs to be prioritized and renewed every school year. They are not asking for special treatment. They are asking for equitable safety measures for every school in Yadkin County.
