Susan Rodriguez-McDowell is from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Colorado Christian University in Morrison, Colorado. She has a bachelor’s degree in fine art from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a master’s degree in counseling from Colorado Christian University. She is married to her husband, Gavin, and they have three adult children.

Susan is a County Commissioner for Mecklenburg County. She works at the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners, where she has served since 2018. She previously worked at the Charlotte branch of a national graphic arts supply dealer as operations manager, at Colorado Christian University as director of counseling services, and was the principal of two small businesses.

Susan Rodriguez-McDowell is currently a Mecklenburg County Commissioner representing District 6. She was elected in 2018 and has served four terms. She is chair of the Economic Development Committee.
