Whitfield, in addressing the gathering, said that he is a product of Rocky Mount and the Happy Hill area and that he is an educator with nearly a decade of experience. Whitfield said that he is going to have four priorities: school safety, support of and retention of teachers, making sure there is responsible spending by the schools and having community partnerships.
