Councilman Mike Kendall, a Denham ally who is also seeking reelection, added that the mayor is pretty well known through his work as the longtime owner of heating and air conditioning businesses.

“It’s almost like he’s put almost every furnace in every house in Bromley because everybody knows he’s the guy to go to,” Kendall said. “He’s that well known around here.”

Kordenbrock also wants to see more investment in the small community. Mayor Denham said that a new zoning process being led for cities across the county by Planning and Development Services of Kenton County, a program titled Z21, is to be implemented in Bromley to do just that by maximizing development potential through better zoning.

“It will make it more attractive for businesses to locate in the city,” Denham said. “Businesses would have to go through an ordinance or a zone change and if we have all that in place, it really cuts down on the time.”

In the meantime, the city progresses. A new sidewalk repair program is to be rolled out to complement significant improvements to Bromley’s Main Street and park.

“What we’ve been trying to focus on, me and my council, is making the city more vibrant, to upgrade everything,” Denham said. “We did the Main St. project (with state funding) with new lighting and sidewalks, we’re concentrating on the ballpark, the Center Park, a new pavilion and building with restrooms in it. We moved the basketball court to where the baseball field was, and we installed soccer fields.”

As mayor, upgraded Main Street lighting and sidewalks and expanded park facilities, including soccer fields.

MEMORANDUM
To: Members of City Council and Committee Chairs
From: Mayor Michael Denham
Date: May 14, 2025
Subject: Executive Summary of the Budget for the Fiscal Year 2025-2026

I have been wanting to concentrate on our roads for the last couple cycles, but it has been a slow process. I have instructed Dave to get with Palmer engineering to puttogether a cost estimate based on a Bid Package for all the street improvements that was developed in 2000. I contacted them to see where they were with that effort and after a long discussion, I have changed their scope and have requested them to give me an estimate for a city-wide evaluation of our streets. Since it is a very expensive project, we just want to get it right.

BROMLEY ORDINANCE 07-09-2025 (Amending the Budget for Fiscal Year Beginning July 1, 2025 and Ending June 30, 2026; Exhibit A Mayor’s Memorandum)

Therefore, I am going to recommend that we only concentrate on this survey being completed and based on the results perhaps begin some of the recommendations at the end of this budget cycle such as Spring of 2026. This will also give us time to research financing options if needed to accomplish repairs of ail the street over a 3-to-5-year plan. As you will seethe 50/50 cost share sidewalk program Is still in this budget.

As you will seethe 50/50 cost share sidewalk program Is still in this budget. With Matt getting up to speed with this program, he has been looking at the language in the program and tweaking it accordingly.

Proposes a citywide street evaluation, followed by financing research and phased street repairs over three to five years.

Maintains a 50/50 cost-share sidewalk program in the city budget.

- If the city has a mayor-aldermen form of government, the mayor is responsible for executing and enforcing local and state laws. The mayor may appoint city officials with approval from the aldermen.
- If the city has a mayor-commission form of government, the mayor presides over the city commissioners and can vote within the commission. The mayor is responsible for executing all decisions reached by the commission.
- If the city has a city manager form of government, the mayor presides over the city commissioners and can vote within the commission. The mayor is recognized as the head of the city department but does not have any regular administrative duties.
